Day 1: Arrival Kilimanjaro - Arusha

Welcome to Tanzania! Your Arican History Expedition  guide will meet you upon arrival at Kilimanjaro airport and take you straight to your first luxury hotel in Tanzania. This trip is an exclusive private safari so that you can enjoy your trip to the fullest! Tomorrow morning will be an early start for your first Tanzania safari experience, so use your first day to recuperate from a day of travel and soak up the sights and sounds of Africa. The rest of the day is at your leisure.

Don’t be afraid to ask your guide questions beforehand and tell them your needs and expectations. Decide your departure and return times together and discuss specific animals you want to look out for! The best thing about a private African safari? You don’t have to be considerate of anyone. This trip is entirely your own.

Tomorrow morning your safari will begin!

Day 2: Lake Manyara National Park

Today you’ll be heading out to your first Tanzania national park: the magnificent Lake Manyara. Though one of the smaller national parks in the country, it still packs a punch. Expect to spot herds of elephants slowly trekking across the plains, vast troops of baboons in the thick forest canopy and – if you are lucky! – perhaps even tree-climbing lions.

You’ll spend the day in your private 4×4 safari vehicle with your experienced safari guide leading the way. A mesmerising variety of wildlife can be found around the huge soda lake, including buffalos, warthogs, giraffes, wildebeest, zebras and plenty of pink flamingos. The shallow Hippo Pool is always a highlight and offers excellent opportunities for hippo sightings as well as spectacular views of the Rift Valley Escarpment.

Return to the  lodge around sunset and enjoy a delicious meal, listening to the quiet hum of the wilderness.

Day 3 Cultural Tour

The Hadzabe tribe live near Lake Eyasi in a mostly traditional way. It’s possible to join these hunters and gatherers on a hunt, and see what techniques they use to catch their preys. The Hadzabe are excellent shooters and if you are lucky, you will see them shoot their prey with a bow and arrow, or find something in traps that they set out. Besides, they will teach you survival skills such as making a fire from scratch.

Be advised that you have to wake up early for this excursion. The hunt often starts around half past five in the morning, when the sun rises. It lasts about three hours and after the hunt you will join the Hadzabe to the market. Here, they exchange their captured prey with the Dotoga tribe for new arrows and bows. Later on visit Datoga Tribe on your way to the Lodge.

Day 4 - 5: Serengeti National Park

Today you will continue your African safari experience to one of the country’s biggest draws: the Serengeti National Park. The endless plains and abundance of wildlife that call the Serengeti home are unsurpassed. The Wildebeest Migration with more than a million wildebeest is probably the highlight of the Serengeti. It is a true spectacle and impressive to watch millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles thunder across the endless plains of the Serengeti.

Together with your private guide, you will be looking for the herds across the plains. Apart from the migratory animals, you will also get to see lots of other animals, like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and many more. Expect to be impressed by the natural beauty of Africa’s most famous park.
If you like to watch wildlife from another perspective, we recommend you to go on a balloon safari. It is an amazing experience to drift silently above the plains with herds of wildlife.

Day 6 : Ngorongoro Crater

Early morning you drive from Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. The road leads through the Maasai Land, to the striking Ngorongoro Crater. This collapsed volcano is the main feature of the area and creates a unique ecosystem with a wide variety of vegetation. Enjoy the beautiful colours of the landscapes and the diversity of animals.

The crater is home to the highest concentration of wildlife in Africa and is choked with elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos and even the rare black rhino. This is one of the best places to spot all of the Big Five. The views from the crater rim over the crater floor are incredible. Because of its natural beauty, the Ngorongoro Crater is chosen as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders.

There is a range of activities to do in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, like visiting a Maasai village.

Day 7; Tarangire National Park

Today you depart after breakfast to Tarangire National Park for a Full day game drive. Since this is one of the less known parks in Tanzania, it still has an authentic safari atmosphere. The hilly landscape, with Baobab trees scattered against the blue sky, is breathtaking. Witness the worlds largest concentration of elephants. Herds of up to 300 elephants can be seen around the Tarangire River, drinking or enjoying a mud bath. Apart from elephants, Tarangire is a paradise for bird lovers. In the area around the swamps you can also see lions, leopards, cheetahs and even tree-climbing pythons.

Day 8 Tarangire - Airport

Today is your last day on your Tanzania safari. Depending on your flight, use your last morning to fit in a final, epic game drive. You will be picked up by your private driver and taken to  Seronera, Arusha Airport or Kilimanjaro airport in time for your return journey home.
