Tarangire National Park

Pick up from a hotel in Arusha at 8am by our guide in a 4×4 safari and drive about one and half hours south on the Great African Highway to Tarangire National Park – lying between the Rift Valley and the vast Massai Steppe this park is a dry season haven for large concentrations of game that stream into the park for water from the Tarangire river – this is the only permanent water supply for a huge area.

But even during the ‘green season’ this park has a lot to offer from its diverse habitats to dramatic scenery.Herds of 150 elephants are not uncommon, the park also has resident lion, leopard and cheetah.

One unusual resident – which is very hard to spot – are huge tree climbing pythons that prey on impala and small gazelles. The park landscape is dominated by large numbers of massive baobab trees and the Tarangire River itself

Sumptuous picnic with drinks in the park and then more game driving in the afternoon before heading back to Arusha as the sun starts to dip. Arriving back at your hotel around 7pm
